Devon County Council has announced several significant traffic regulation changes across Exeter, effective from November 2026. These changes are aimed at improving road safety and managing traffic flow in key areas.

Dryden Road Revocation and New Speed Limits

The council proposes to revoke the prohibition of motor vehicles on Dryden Road, Exeter. In its place, a new 20mph zone will be introduced along a specified length of the road. Additionally, several traffic calming measures will be installed, including a raised zebra crossing and various road humps. These installations are designed to enhance pedestrian safety and reduce vehicle speeds.

Trackside Close & Vesta Boulevard Restrictions

New proposals include a 20mph speed limit on the entire lengths of Trackside Close and Vesta Boulevard, as well as no waiting restrictions at any time on specified sections. These measures aim to improve safety near Morrisons Supermarket by controlling vehicle speeds and parking.

Temporary Road Closures and Restrictions

Several temporary road closures have been announced: - Cleveland Street: Closed from 30 November 2026 for gas main replacement work. - Frog Lane, Clyst St Mary: Closed from 9 November 2026 for drainage works. - Roberts Road: Rolling closures from 9 November 2026 for lead replacement works. - Northern Hay Street: Closed from 31 October 2026 for new connection works.

These closures are necessary to facilitate essential infrastructure improvements and maintenance work.

Public Participation

Residents can view detailed plans and submit objections or comments regarding these proposals by writing to Devon County Council or visiting their website. Submissions must be received by 26 November 2026. All feedback will be anonymised before being reviewed by the Highways & Traffic Orders Committee (HATOC).
