Plymouth City Council has announced temporary road closures affecting several key streets in the city. These measures are part of essential infrastructure works scheduled to begin in April 2026.
Baring Street/Regent Street/Beaumont Avenue/Ladywell Place
The City of Plymouth will enforce a temporary prohibition of driving, parking, waiting, loading, and unloading on Baring Street from Hospital Road to Camden Street. This includes northbound restrictions from Camden Street to Armada Street and eastbound from Camden Street to Greenbank Road. Regent Street will also see restrictions from North Street to Lipson Road.
Additionally, Beaumont Avenue will be closed at the junction of Ladywell Place and northbound from Regent Street to number 8. Ladywell Place will be closed for its entirety. These restrictions are due to phased gas main works expected to run from 13 April 2026 until 15 June 2026. For further details, contact Wales & West Utilities at 08009122999.
Charlton Road/Tavistock Road
A separate order affects Charlton Road between Grosvenor Road and Tavistock Road and Tavistock Road inbound from William Prance Road to Plumer Road. The bus lane on Tavistock Road between these points will also be suspended.
These closures are part of junction upgrade works anticipated to start on 13 April 2026 and continue until 27 October 2026. Advance warning boards will be displayed on-site to inform residents of exact dates and times. For more information, contact South West Highways at 01752278278.
Both orders come into force on 13 April 2026 and may remain effective for up to 18 months as needed. Residents are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and stay informed through local updates.
