Plymouth City Council has issued a notice regarding a temporary prohibition of driving on Springfield Road. This measure is being implemented under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The restriction will affect the westbound direction from Elburton Road to Doreena Road.
The prohibition will be enforced when appropriate traffic signs are displayed, starting from March 17 2026. The order is set to remain in effect for up to 18 months, although the specific works are anticipated to occur between March 17 and March 19 2026, during the hours of 7pm to 7am.
This temporary measure is necessary to facilitate manhole works being carried out by South West Water. Residents and commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and seek alternative routes during these times.
For further details or inquiries, individuals can contact South West Water at 0344 346 2020. The notice was published by the Director for Growth at Plymouth City Council and appeared in The Herald on February 16 2026.
