The Department for Transport has announced a proposal under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 to stop up a section of Plympton Hill in Plymouth, within the South Hams district. This order, if approved, will facilitate development projects authorised by South Hams District Council under references 7_49/2426/06/O, 4175/21/VAR, and 0825/18/VAR.

The draft order and associated plans are available for public inspection at South Hams District Council's offices at Follaton House, Plymouth Road, Totnes, TQ9 5NE. These documents can be viewed during normal business hours over a 28-day period starting from 23 February 2026. Interested parties can also request copies free of charge from the Secretary of State by quoting reference NATTRAN/SW/S247/6207.

How can I object to the proposed road closure? Individuals wishing to object to the proposed order must submit their reasons in writing to the Secretary of State. Correspondence should be directed to nationalcasework@dft.gov.uk or sent by post to the National Transport Casework Team at PO Box 1393, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE99 5FQ. All objections must be received by midnight on 23 March 2026.
