Overview of Traffic Notices in Plymouth

Plymouth City Council has issued several important traffic notices affecting various areas within the city. These include amendments to taxi ranks on Royal Parade and temporary prohibitions of driving on several roads due to maintenance and utility works.

Taxi Rank Amendments on Royal Parade

The City of Plymouth is proposing changes to the taxi ranks on Royal Parade. Under the Traffic Regulation Orders (Amendment Order No. 2025.2137344), the council intends to add or amend the existing taxi rank arrangements. This proposal is part of a broader effort to improve traffic flow and accessibility in the area.

Additionally, there is a proposal to move the existing Hackney Carriage Stand from its current location near Brass Monkey to a position closer to St Andrew’s Cross Roundabout. This change aims to enhance convenience for both drivers and passengers.

Residents and stakeholders are invited to submit their comments or objections by 12 December 2025 for the taxi rank amendment and within 28 days of notice publication for the Hackney Carriage Stand movement.

Temporary Road Closures

Ringmore Way Closure

A temporary prohibition of driving will be enforced on Ringmore Way from Budshead Road to Shaldon Crescent. This closure is scheduled from 1 December 2025 to 12 December 2025, allowing for essential patch repair works. The closure will be in effect 24 hours a day during this period.

Mutley Plain Restrictions

Mutley Plain will experience a temporary prohibition of driving, specifically restricting right-hand turns onto Mutley Plain outbound. This restriction is set from 2 December 2025 to 3 December 2025 between 11pm and 6am, facilitating necessary utility works.

Dunstone Road Closure

Dunstone Road will also be closed temporarily between Dunstone Drive and number 52 for new connection works. This closure will occur from 17 November 2025 until 21 November 2025, operating around the clock.
