Plymouth City Council has announced several significant traffic and road updates set to take effect in April 2026. These changes include the construction of a new road hump on Pearn Road, variations in on-street and off-street parking fees, and temporary prohibitions on driving, parking, waiting, loading, and unloading in various areas.

New Road Hump on Pearn Road

A proposal has been made to construct a flat top road hump on Pearn Road, approximately 7.4 metres from the junction with Higher Compton Road. The dimensions of the hump are set to be 7.3 metres in width, 6.0 metres in length, and 100mm in height. Residents can view detailed plans on the Plymouth City Council website and submit comments by April 15, 2026.

Changes to Parking Fees

The City of Plymouth will implement revised charges for both on-street and off-street parking permits starting April 13, 2026. Key changes include: - Annual Visitor Permit: Increased from £48.50 to £63 per annum. - Business (Long Stay) Permit: Increased from £475 to £617.50 per annum. - Residents Parking Permit: Increased from £48.50 to £63 per annum. - Off-Street Parking: For example, at Derry’s Cross and other locations, the cost for two hours will rise from £3.30 to £4.00.

Temporary Traffic Orders

Temporary prohibitions will be enforced in several areas due to phased gas main works: - Baring Street/Regent Street/Beaumont Avenue/Ladywell Place: Restrictions will be in place from April 13 to June 15, 2026. - Queens Gate/Palmerston Street/Rutger Place: Restrictions will be effective from April 13 to May 26, 2026.

These measures are part of ongoing efforts by Plymouth City Council to manage traffic flow and improve road safety across the city. Residents are encouraged to review these changes and plan accordingly.
