Plymouth City Council has announced a series of temporary traffic restrictions affecting several roads in the city. These measures are set to commence on 26 May 2026 and will remain in place until 28 August 2026, with the possibility of extending up to a maximum of 18 months if necessary. The restrictions are being implemented to facilitate phased gas main works.

The affected roads include:

  • Molesworth Road: Between The Elms and Park Street.
  • The Grove: Entirety.
  • Somerset Place: Between Church Street and Molesworth Road, and between Penlee Road and Penlee Way.
  • Penlee Way: Between number 32 and Molesworth Road.
  • Milehouse Road: Between number 114 and Wolseley Road (parking suspensions only).
  • Springfield Drive: Northbound for its entirety.
  • Bartholomew Road: Southbound for its entirety.

These restrictions will be enforced around the clock, with no vehicle access permitted on the specified sections of the roads during this period. The initiative is part of essential infrastructure improvements managed by Wales & West Utilities.

Residents and commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and consider alternative routes where possible. Those who have any concerns or believe they may be adversely impacted by these changes are encouraged to contact Wales & West Utilities at 0800 9122 999 for further information.

The notice was published by Plymouth City Council's Director for Growth on 27 April 2026, as reported in The Herald.
