Overview of Plymouth Road Closures

Plymouth City Council has announced several temporary road closures and restrictions set to commence in January 2026. These measures are part of ongoing infrastructure improvements and utility works across the city. The affected areas include Lorrimore Avenue, St Georges Terrace, Elburton Road, New Street, and Tavistock Road.

Detailed Road Closures

Lorrimore Avenue and Surrounding Areas

From 5 January 2026, a temporary prohibition of driving, parking, waiting, loading, and unloading will be enforced on several roads including Lorrimore Avenue, St Georges Terrace, and others. Tintagel Crescent Area

Similarly, Tintagel Crescent and nearby roads will face similar restrictions starting on the same date. These works are anticipated to conclude by 13 April 2026. Pedestrian access will also be restricted in certain areas.

Elburton Road Cycle Lane

Cyclists should note that the cycle lane on Elburton Road will be closed between numbers 208 and 176 from 30 December 2025 to 31 December 2025 during daytime hours. Contact M Group Services at 02382 012650 for further details.

New Street

A temporary driving prohibition will be in place outside number 24 New Street from 5 January to 7 January 2026 due to new connection works. South West Water can provide additional information at 0344 346 2020.

Tavistock Road

Traffic signal works will necessitate a no right-hand turn into the George Park and Ride on Tavistock Road from 5 January to 30 January 2026. For inquiries, contact Swarco UK & Ireland at 07768 780050.
