Plymouth City Council has announced its intention to amend the existing taxi rank on Royal Parade as part of a proposed Traffic Regulation Order. This initiative is being undertaken under the powers granted by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, following consultations with the Chief Officer of Police.

The proposed order aims to modify the current taxi rank arrangements on Royal Parade. Additionally, the council plans to install a new controlled pedestrian crossing approximately 226 metres west of St Andrews Cross roundabout. This crossing will be a Toucan type, designed to facilitate safer pedestrian and cyclist movement across this busy area.

Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to review the full details of the proposed order, which are available on the Plymouth City Council website. Alternatively, interested parties can request a hard copy by contacting the council directly at 01752 668000.

Those who wish to comment on the proposed changes are invited to submit their feedback in writing to the Service Director for Street Services at Plymouth Highways. Comments can also be submitted online via the council's website. All representations should quote reference Amd.2025.2137344 Royal Parade and must be received by 12 December 2025.
