Plymouth City Council has issued a public notice regarding a Temporary Prohibition Order affecting several roads across the city as part of a major resurfacing project scheduled for 2025-2026. The order, which comes into effect on Monday June 9 2025, will restrict driving, parking, waiting, loading, and unloading on specified roads until Friday December 19 2025.

The affected areas include Drunken Bridge Hill between Underwood Road and Copse Road, Underwood Road between 143 and Dark Street Lane, Buckwell Street in its entirety, Bretonside at the junction of Kinterbury Street, Vauxhall Street with no right turn onto Buckwell Street, Ham Drive between Recreation Road and Ham Close, Foliot Road in its entirety, Austin Avenue in its entirety, Fort Austin Avenue between numbers 176 and 189, Church Hill at the junction of Fort Austin Avenue, Bushead Road between Crownhill Road and Biggin Hill, New Passage Hill in its entirety, Palace Street with suspension of the one-way system, and Kinterbury Street in its entirety.

The restrictions will be enforced only when appropriate traffic signs are displayed. Alternative routes will be clearly marked to assist drivers during this period. Gatemen will be stationed at various points to facilitate access for residents.

This phased resurfacing project aims to improve road conditions across Plymouth. Advance warning boards will be placed at each location to inform residents and commuters of specific dates and times closer to the commencement of works.

The order is set to remain in force for up to 18 months; however, it is anticipated that all associated works will be completed by December 19 2025.
