Plymouth City Council announces temporary road closures for essential surface dressing work from May 28 2025, affecting multiple city roads with alternative routes provided to minimise disruption

Plymouth City Council has issued a public notice regarding temporary road closures and restrictions as part of the Surface Dressing 2025-2026 programme. The order, effective from Wednesday May 28 2025, will prohibit driving, parking, waiting, loading, and unloading on several roads across the city. These measures are being implemented under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to facilitate essential maintenance work.

The affected roads include Southway Drive, Dunnet Road, Station Road, Uxbridge Drive, Roman Way, Whin Bank Road, St Peters Road, St Georges Avenue, Beaconfield Road, Segrave Road, Furneaux Road, Granby Way, Princess Street, Macadam Road, Chestnut Avenue, Staddon Lane, Hooe Lane, Pomphlett Gardens, Stenlake Terrace, Mount Gould Road, Prince Maurice Road, Lanhydrock Road, Penlee Place, Ashford Road, Ford Park Lane, Old Laira Road, Eggbuckland Road, Culver Way, Frogmore Avenue, Longbridge Close, Marsh Close, Barbican Road and Wolverwood Lane.

The restrictions will be in place on the days and during the hours indicated by traffic signs at each location. Alternative routes will be clearly marked to minimise disruption. Residents will have access facilitated by gatemen during the works.

The phased surface dressing is scheduled to occur between May 28 and July 21 2025. Advance warning boards will be displayed at each site to inform residents of specific dates and times for the works.
