Plymouth City Council has announced a temporary prohibition of driving on Normandy Hill, effective from January 13 2026. This measure is part of the new connection works scheduled to take place between Bridgelands Close and Vicarage Gardens. The restriction will remain in effect as long as the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.

The order, made under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, allows for the closure to last up to 18 months. However, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by January 20 2026, operating continuously during this period.

Residents and commuters are advised to plan alternative routes during this time to avoid disruptions. Those who have any concerns or believe they may be adversely impacted are encouraged to contact National Grid at 105 for further information.

This notice was issued by the Director for Growth at Plymouth City Council and published in The Herald on December 29 2025.
