Devon County Council has announced a temporary prohibition of through traffic and parking on Monks Road, Exeter, as part of a lead replacement scheme. This restriction will be in effect from Thursday, May 7, 2026, and is anticipated to conclude by Saturday, May 30, 2026. The order is made under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 - Section 14.
The affected sections of Monks Road will not permit any vehicle to proceed or wait during this period. To accommodate the closure, alternative routes have been established. Vehicles can follow a clockwise diversion via Monks Road, Pinhoe Road, and Abbey Road. An anti-clockwise diversion is also available via Abbey Road, Pinhoe Road, and Cloister Road.
This temporary restriction is deemed necessary to facilitate the lead replacement scheme being conducted by Kier on behalf of South West Water. For further information regarding the project or the traffic management plan, interested parties can contact Kier at 0344 346 2020.
The notice was issued by Meg Booth, Director of Climate Change, Environment & Transport at Devon Highways. The reference number for this order is TTR02668980. The public notice was published in the Exeter Express & Echo.
