Hertfordshire County Council has issued a series of public notices regarding temporary road closures and waiting restrictions set to commence in March 2026. These measures are being implemented under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to facilitate necessary works on or near the affected roads.

The affected areas include multiple roads in Ware, Widford, Cheshunt, Wormley, Gilston, Buntingford, Hertford, Great Munden, Braughing, Dane End, Little Hormead, Hunsdon, Hoddesdon, and Cheshunt. The orders will come into force on various dates throughout March 2026 and will remain effective for up to 18 months. However, the restrictions will only be active at times indicated by signs placed on or near the roads.

In Ware and Widford, roads such as King George Road and B1004 (High Street/Ware Road) will experience closures with alternative routes provided where possible. In Cheshunt and Wormley, roads including Russells Ride and Shirley Close will also face temporary closures.

For Gilston Lane in Gilston and the A10 in Buntingford, alternative routes have been outlined to manage traffic flow during the closure periods. Similarly, in Hertford, roads like Davies Street and Cross Road will be closed with detours available.

Utility repair works necessitate the closure of Stockalls Lane in Great Munden and B1368 Green End in Braughing. Meanwhile, Church Lane in Dane End will see both vehicular traffic prohibitions and waiting restrictions.

In Little Hormead and Hunsdon, roads such as Worsted Lane and an unnamed road (3U157) will be closed to facilitate telegraph pole replacements. Additionally, service roads in Hoddesdon will be closed for electrical service works.

A prohibition of right turn movements from A414 London Road into Mangrove Road in Hertford is also planned. Gas main works will affect Gladstone Road and River Avenue in Hoddesdon.
