Hertfordshire County Council has announced a series of temporary road closures and diversions across the county, set to commence in early 2025. These measures are necessary to facilitate utility service works and other essential maintenance activities. The following is a summary of the affected roads and the proposed alternative routes.

B156 Goffs Lane, Cheshunt

The B156 Goffs Lane will be closed from its junction with the Rosedale Way/B198 Lieutenant Ellis Way roundabout northeastwards for approximately 100 metres. The closure is scheduled to begin on 20 February 2025 and may last up to 18 months. An alternative route will be available via B198 Lieutenant Ellis Way, A10 Great Cambridge Road, A1170 Great Cambridge Road, and B156.

Malting Lane, Braughing

Malting Lane will be closed from its junction with B1368 Green End southeastwards for about 185 metres starting on 10 February 2025. Access will be maintained for residents. The alternative route includes B1368 Green End, Ford Street, and Malting Lane.

Hammondstreet Road, Cheshunt

This road will be closed from the Argent Way roundabout southeastwards to Peakes Lane, covering approximately 1000 metres. The closure begins on 13 February 2025. Traffic will be diverted via Hammondstreet Road, Darnicle Hill, Newgate Street Village, Carbone Hill, B157, B156, Longfield Lane, and Dig Dag Hill.

Station Road, Westmill

Station Road will be closed from its junction with A10 southwestwards to C16 for about 494 metres starting on 27 January 2025. The alternative route involves A10 Puckeridge Bypass, Mentley Lane West, and C16.

B1368 (Hay Street/Green End), Braughing

The closure affects the stretch from C32 southwards to Hull Lane for approximately 1068 metres starting on 30 January 2025. The diversion route includes B1368 Hay Street, B1038 Hare Street Road, A10 Buntingford Bypass, and B1368 Green End.

Hebing End, Benington

Hebing End will be closed from Whempstead Road northeastwards for about 137 metres starting on 27 January 2025. No alternative route is available; however, access to properties will be maintained.

Bus/Cycle Lane on B176 High Street, Waltham Cross

The bus/cycle lane on the east side of B176 High Street will be closed from a point near Trinity Lane southeastwards for about 238 metres starting on 27 January 2025. An alternative route is available via B176 High Street.

Little Berkhamsted Lane, Little Berkhamsted

This lane will be closed from a point in line with No.18 Little Berkhamsted Lane southwestwards for about 30 metres starting on 27 January 2025. The diversion includes Little Berkhamsted Lane, Robins Nest Hill, and other local roads.

Church Lane, Hunsdon and A10 Great Cambridge Road Slip Road

Church Lane will be closed from A414 Eastwick Road northwestwards to Hunsdonbury Lane for approximately 1782 metres starting on 27 January 2025. The slip road closure covers about 37 metres from A10 Great Cambridge Road to College Road. Diversions include A414 Eastwick Road and A1170 Great Cambridge Road.
