Hertfordshire County Council has issued a series of temporary road closure orders affecting various locations across the county, set to commence in January 2026. These closures are necessary to facilitate essential maintenance and utility works.

Stanstead Drive and Murchison Road, Hoddesdon

The roads will be closed to vehicular traffic due to gas main works. The closure will affect Stanstead Drive from its junction with Stanstead Road southwestwards for approximately 30 metres, and Murchison Road from its junction with Stanstead Road northeastwards for approximately 30 metres. Alternative routes have been designated via nearby roads.

Nelson Street/Molewood Road/Beane Road, Hertford

This closure is required for sewer cleaning works. The affected stretch runs from Wellington Street southwestwards, northwestwards, and southwestwards for about 113 metres. An alternative route is available via Wellington Street and other connecting roads.

Cherry Green Lane, Westmill

Water connection works necessitate the closure of Cherry Green Lane from a point 382 metres southwest of its junction with an unnamed road, extending southwestwards for approximately 142 metres.

Hoddesdon Public Footpath No.046

Pedestrian access will be restricted on this footpath due to riverbank maintenance works. An alternative pedestrian route is provided via adjacent footways and paths.

Stortford Road, Little Hadham

The road will be closed from its junction with Cradle End northwestwards to Albury Road for utility works. Vehicles are also prohibited from waiting on both sides of the road during the works.

Chapmore End, Ware

A telegraph pole replacement requires the closure of Chapmore End from a point near Lammas House northeastwards for approximately 154 metres.

Beaumont Road, Wormley

Utility service works will close Beaumont Road from a point 395 metres northeast of its junction with Bread and Cheese Lane northeastwards and southeastwards for about 245 metres.

Bramfield Lane, Waterford

Utility and tree cutting works necessitate the closure of Bramfield Lane from Tattle Hill to A119 High Road.

Whempstead Road, Benington

The replacement of a telegraph pole will close Whempstead Road from its junction with Benington Restricted Byway No.042 northwestwards for about 100 metres.

Cottered Road, Throcking

Telegraph pole replacement will close Cottered Road from a point 12 metres northeast of its junction with an unnamed road southwestwards for about 100 metres.

C16 Great Munden, Great Munden

A telegraph pole replacement requires closing C16 Great Munden from a point in line with the eastern boundary of No.6 Vale Cottages southwestwards for about 100 metres.

Scholars Hill, Wareside

Utility service works will close Scholars Hill from its junction with an unnamed road northeastwards for approximately 89 metres.

Whitehill, Dane End

The replacement of a telecom pole necessitates closing Whitehill from Rowney Lane northwestwards to Little Munden Byway Open to All Traffic and Restricted Byway No.023.

These orders are set to come into force on various dates in January 2026 and may last up to 18 months; however, restrictions will only apply as indicated by signage on site.
