Hertfordshire County Council has announced several temporary road traffic orders affecting various locations across the county. These orders are set to facilitate essential works ranging from resurfacing to utility services. Below is a summary of the key notices:
- Thundridge Bridleway and Footpaths Closure: The bridleway Thundridge 48 and footpaths 49, 49A, and 49B will be closed from Cambridge Road southeast for approximately 100m starting on or after 13 April 2026 for up to six weeks. This closure is to enable resurfacing works. Alternative routes are available for pedestrians on Thundridge 45 and for equestrians and cyclists on Thundridge 39.
- B181 Roydon Road, Stanstead Abbotts Closure: Scheduled from 27 April 2026 for approximately 14 days, this closure is due to gas mains replacement. The affected stretch runs from Kitten Lane southeastwards to Coldharbour Farm. An alternative route will be provided via B181, A1170, B1004, and B180.
- Church Lane, Wormley Closure: Utility service works will necessitate the closure of Church Lane from West End Road northwestwards for about 122m starting on 29 April 2026. The closure is expected to last one day.
- Lea Road Right Turn Prohibition: From 27 April 2026, right turns from Lea Road into A121 Station Road in Waltham Cross will be prohibited for two days due to street lighting works.
- Brookside, Hertford Closure: Utility works will close Brookside from the northwestern boundary of No.57 southwestwards for about 29m starting on 27 April 2026 for three days.
- Bromley Lane, Standon Closure: From 27 April 2026, Bromley Lane will be closed from Hadham Road southeastwards to Much Hadham Public Footpath No.001 for five days due to proposed works.
- Fore Street, Hertford Closure: Starting on 13 April 2026, Fore Street will be closed from Market Street to A414 Bluecoats roundabout for five days.
- Churchfield Road, Tewin Closure: This road will be closed from the western boundary of No.4 northeastwards starting on 13 April 2026 for three days due to utility works.
- Benningfield Road/Close, Widford Closure: Scheduled from 16 April 2026 for seven days with no alternative route available.
- Benington Road, Walkern Closure: From 13 April 2026 for five days with an alternative route via High Street and B1037.
- Queen Hoo Lane, Tewin Closure: Utility service works will close this lane from Bramfield Road to Tewin Hill starting on 13 April 2026 for ten days.
- Crib Street, Ware Closure: Water connection works will close Crib Street from St Evroul Court northeastwards starting on 13 April 2026 for five days.
- Various Roads in Wheathampstead and Surrounding Areas: Multiple roads will face closures and waiting restrictions starting on 13 April 2026 for five days due to proposed works.
Additionally, a new speed limit order has been introduced in Bishop’s Stortford effective from Friday, 17 April 2026. This order imposes a new speed limit of 20 mph on sections of Twyford Road and Twyford Close.
