Hertfordshire County Council has announced a series of temporary road closures across the county starting from January 2026. These closures are necessary to facilitate various utility works, including water main repairs and gas main replacements.

Key Road Closures

  • Bridleway Little Berkhamsted 18: Closed from 27 January 2026 for up to one day to enable utilities work. An alternative route is available via Little Berkhamsted 4 and 26.
  • Links Avenue, Hertford: Footpath closure from 9 February 2026 for up to six months due to water main repair works. Alternative routes are provided via adjacent footpaths.
  • Long Lane, Aston End: Closure from 10 February 2026 for up to 18 months for water service connection works. Alternative routes include Long Lane and Tatlers Lane.
  • Much Hadham, Cheshunt, and Broxbourne: Various roads will experience temporary traffic management measures starting 9 February 2026.
  • Hagsdell Road, Hertford: Closed from 9 February 2026 for utility service works with an alternative route via Queens Road and Hale Road.
  • Stanstead Road, Hoddesdon: Closure from 26 January 2026 for gas main replacement with alternative routes via Stanstead Road and Burford Street.

Additional Closures

Other roads affected include Tattle Hill in Bramfield, Blounts Lane in Allens Green, Rosedale Way in Cheshunt, and several roads in Hoddesdon. Each closure has specific alternative routes detailed by the council.
