Overview of Road Closures in Hertfordshire

Hertfordshire County Council has announced a series of temporary road closures and waiting restrictions set to commence in February 2026. These measures are necessary to facilitate various works across the county, including road marking, utility service upgrades, and telegraph pole replacements.

Key Affected Areas

  • Cheshunt: The A10 unnamed road will be closed for road marking works. Alternative routes include A121 and M25. Aldbury Grove Road will also see closures with access via Rushleigh Avenue.
  • Braughing: Friars Road and several public bridleways will be closed for utility service works. No alternative routes are available.
  • Hoddesdon: Stanstead Road and Rye Road will be closed for gas main works. Alternative routes are provided via local roads.
  • Much Hadham: New Barns Lane will be closed for telegraph pole replacement with no alternative route available.

Additional Closures

  • Aspenden: The Street will be closed for telegraph pole replacement.
  • Great Amwell & Turnford: Durham Close and B176 High Road will face closures for unspecified works.
  • Datchworth: Bramfield Road will be closed for water connection works.
  • Tewin: Upper Green Road will be closed for water main repairs.

Impact on Residents

Residents are advised that while some roads have no alternative routes, access to properties will be maintained whenever possible. Those affected by these closures should plan their journeys accordingly and follow the indicated signage for detours.
