Devon County Council has announced a temporary prohibition of through traffic and parking on Herschell Road, Exeter, as part of a lead replacement scheme. This restriction will be in effect from Monday, 20 April 2026, and is anticipated to conclude by Friday, 15 May 2026. The order is made under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14.
The affected area includes sections of Herschell Road where no vehicles will be allowed to proceed or wait. To accommodate this closure, an alternative route for vehicles will be signposted via Elmside, Salisbury Road, and Iddesleigh Road.
This temporary measure is deemed necessary to facilitate the lead replacement works being undertaken by South West Water. Residents and commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and follow the signed diversions.
