Plymouth City Council has announced a temporary restriction on pedestrians at Hemerdon Heights due to essential gas replacement works. This measure, under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 Section 14, will affect the footpath between numbers 65 and 10. The restriction will be in place from 25 May 2026 and is expected to last until 6 November 2026, operating 24 hours a day.
The closure is deemed necessary to facilitate the safe and efficient replacement of gas infrastructure by Wales & West Utilities. Residents and pedestrians are advised to plan alternative routes during this period to avoid inconvenience.
For further details or inquiries, individuals can contact Wales & West Utilities directly at 0800 9122 999. The notice was published in The Herald on April 27, 2026.
Those who have any concerns or believe they may be adversely impacted by this closure are encouraged to reach out to Plymouth City Council's Director for Growth at Ballard House, Plymouth, PL1 3BJ.
