In a recent public notice, Devon County Council has announced a temporary prohibition of through traffic and parking on Higher Wear Road in Exeter. This restriction is part of the ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984, Section 14, and is necessary to facilitate essential drainage works by Devon Highways.

The order, effective from Saturday January 11 2025, will last for a maximum of 18 months, although the anticipated completion date is Thursday January 16 2025. During this period, no vehicles will be allowed to proceed or wait on the affected sections of Higher Wear Road.

To accommodate the closure, an alternative route for vehicles has been established. The signed diversion will guide traffic via Wear Barton Road, Glasshouse Lane, and Topsham Road, with provisions for travel in both directions.

These measures are deemed necessary to ensure the safe and efficient completion of drainage works by Devon Highways. Residents and commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and allow extra time for travel.
