Devon County Council has announced multiple temporary road closures in Exeter starting from early January 2026. These restrictions are part of essential infrastructure upgrades aimed at resolving water quality issues and replacing gas mains.

Duckworth Road Closure From 6 January to 21 January 2026, Duckworth Road will be closed from the junction with Barton Road to Old Vicarage Road. The closure is necessary for lead replacements. Alternative routes include Parkhouse Road, Cowick Lane, Cowick Street, and Old Vicarage Road.

Woodah Road Closure Woodah Road will be closed from 5 January to 25 January 2026 between numbers 15 and 151. This closure is also for lead replacement works. Traffic will be diverted via Okehampton Road and Buddle Lane.

Albion Street and Surrounding Areas Albion Street, Cleaveland Street, and Clinton Street will experience access-only closures from 5 January to 25 January 2026. The one-way systems on Cleaveland Street and Clinton Street will be suspended during this period.

Churchill Road Closure Churchill Road will be closed from Cowick Lane to Barton Road from 5 January to 16 January 2026. Diversions will guide traffic via Holland Road.

East Grove Road Closure East Grove Road will have no alternative route available during its closure for lead replacement works.

Maple Road Parking Restrictions From 2 January to 13 February 2026, parking on Maple Road will be prohibited due to gas mains replacements.

West Grove Road and Surrounding Areas West Grove Road and several other roads in Exeter will face rolling closures until late April 2026 for lead pipe replacements.
