Overview of Traffic Notices in Exeter

Devon County Council has announced several temporary traffic orders affecting various roads in Exeter. These measures are intended to facilitate essential infrastructure works, including lead replacement and gas mains replacement.

Powderham Road Closure

From 21 November 2025, Powderham Road in Exeter will be closed to through traffic for a maximum period of 18 months, with an anticipated completion date of 1 December 2025. This closure is necessary for lead replacements aimed at resolving water quality issues. The alternative route for vehicles will be via Old Vicarage Road, Cowick Street, Cowick Lane, Holland Road, and back to Powderham Road. Parking Restrictions in Regent Street Area

Starting 24 November 2025, parking will be prohibited on Regent Street, Princes Street South, Pinces Road, and Pinces Gardens for up to 18 months. This restriction supports gas replacement works by Wales & West Utilities. Queries can be directed to Wales & West Utilities at 0800 9122999.

Fairpark Road Traffic and Parking Ban

Fairpark Road will experience a prohibition of through traffic and parking from 24 November to 24 December 2025. The closure facilitates gas mains replacement works. Alternative routes include Fairpark Road (clockwise and anti-clockwise), Roberts Road, Holloway Street, Magdalen Street, Western Way, and Magdalen Road. Maple Road Access Restrictions

Maple Road will be closed to through traffic and parking from 24 November to 12 December 2025 for lead replacement works. Access will remain available for residents. Kier is managing the project on behalf of South West Water; they can be reached at 01726 224400.

Clarence Road Closure

Clarence Road will also see a temporary prohibition of through traffic and parking from 25 November to 19 December 2025 due to lead replacement efforts. Residents can contact Kier for additional information.

Southernhay Area Waiting Restrictions

New waiting restrictions in the Southernhay area will come into effect on 24 November 2025. These include no waiting or loading at any time on specified sections of Southernhay East and pay-and-display tariffs on Dixs Field and Southernhay East. The orders also introduce a prohibition of motor vehicles on certain sections and revoke existing one-way systems.
