Devon County Council has issued several temporary traffic and parking restrictions across Exeter as part of ongoing maintenance and improvement works. These measures are set to commence from late November 2025 and are expected to last for varying durations.

Powderham Road Closure

Under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Powderham Road in Exeter will be closed to through traffic starting from 21 November 2025. This closure is anticipated to last until 1 December 2025. The restriction is necessary to facilitate lead replacement works aimed at resolving water quality issues. An alternative route will be signposted via Old Vicarage Road, Cowick Street, Cowick Lane, and Holland Road. For further details, South West Water can be contacted at 0844 346 2020.

Parking Prohibition on Regent Street and Surrounding Areas

From 24 November 2025, parking will be temporarily prohibited on Regent Street, Princes Street South, Pinces Road, and Pinces Gardens. This measure is expected to remain in place until 9 January 2026 to allow for gas replacement works by Wales & West Utilities. Queries can be directed to their contact number at 0800 9122999.

Fairpark Road Restrictions

Fairpark Road will experience a prohibition of both through traffic and parking from 24 November to 24 December 2025. The closure extends from the junction of Roberts Road to outside No. 38 Fairpark Road. This is part of the gas mains replacement project. Alternative routes will be clearly marked for drivers.

Maple Road Access Restrictions

Maple Road will have restricted access from 24 November to 12 December 2025 due to lead replacement schemes aimed at improving water quality. Access will remain available for residents only. Kier, on behalf of South West Water, can provide additional information at 01726 224400.

Clarence Road Closure

Starting on 25 November and concluding by 19 December 2025, Clarence Road will be closed to through traffic and parking between numbers 11 and 17. This closure supports lead replacement efforts similar to those on Maple Road.

These temporary restrictions are crucial for ensuring the safety and efficiency of essential infrastructure upgrades across Exeter. Residents and commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and follow the signed diversions where applicable.
