Devon County Council has issued several temporary road traffic orders affecting various roads in Exeter and Coffinswell starting from 23 March 2026. These restrictions are necessary to facilitate essential maintenance works.

School Road, Exeter

A temporary prohibition of through traffic will be in place on School Road, Exeter, from 23 March to 9 April 2026. This closure is required for lead pipe replacement works. There is no alternative route available. For more information, contact South West Water at 0844 346 2020.

Road from Courtwell House to Greenacres, Coffinswell

The road from Courtwell House to Greenacres will be closed from 23 March to 2 April 2026 for drainage works. An alternative signed route will be provided via Willowpark Lane and Home Farm. Archibald Road, Exeter

From 13 April to 15 May 2026, Archibald Road will be closed to both through traffic and parking for a lead pipe replacement scheme. No alternative route is available. Kier on behalf of South West Water can be contacted at 0344 346 2020.

Cambridge Street, Exeter

Cambridge Street will be closed from 23 March to 10 April 2026 for a lead replacement scheme. Vehicles can follow an alternative route via Buller Road and Brunswick Street. For further information, contact South West Water at the same number as above.

Russell Street, Exeter

Russell Street will undergo pedestrianisation and traffic calming measures from 23 March to 15 May 2026. There is no alternative route provided. WSP can be contacted at 01392 229700 for more information.

Old Vicarage Road, Exeter

Old Vicarage Road will be closed from outside number 19 to outside number 75 from 20 April to 8 May 2026 for lead replacements addressing water quality issues. Alternative routes include Cowick Street and Alphington Street. Kier on behalf of South West Water can provide additional details.

Cleveland Street, Clinton Street & Oakfield Road, Exeter

These roads will experience rolling closures from 15 April to 24 June 2026 for gas mains replacement. Alternative routes are available via Albion Street and Buller Road. Contact Wales & West Utilities at 0800 9122999 for further information.

Residents and commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and follow the signed diversions where applicable.
