Devon County Council has announced a series of temporary road restrictions across Exeter and nearby areas, effective from March 2026. These measures are part of ongoing maintenance and infrastructure improvement efforts.

Manor Road, Exeter A temporary prohibition of through traffic will be enforced on Manor Road from 7 April 2026 to 24 April 2026. This restriction is necessary for lead pipe replacement works. There is no alternative route available. For more information, contact South West Water at 0844 346 2020.

A379: Exeter Hill to Dawlish From 16 March 2026 to 28 March 2026, the A379 will be closed between Exeter Hill and Dawlish during night hours (7pm to 7am) for patching, cleaning, and lining works. An alternative route is available via A381, A380, and A38. For details, contact Milestone Infrastructure at 020 3307 8051.

Athelstan Road, Exeter Closure from 18 March 2026 to 2 April 2026 for a lead replacement scheme. The alternative route is via Denmark Road and Barnfield Road. Contact Kier on behalf of South West Water at 0344 346 2020 for further information.

West Grove Road, Exeter From 16 March 2026 to 17 April 2026, there will be a prohibition of through traffic and parking due to lead pipe replacements. Contact South West Water at the same number as above.

Cambridge Street, Exeter Closed from 16 March 2026 to 3 April 2026 for a lead replacement scheme. The diversion route includes Buller Road and Brunswick Street.

Old Coach Road, Broadclyst Scheduled closure from 6 April 2026 to 17 April 2026 for footway and resurfacing works. The signed diversion includes Station Road and B3174.

Lower Kings Avenue, Exeter Parking prohibition from 16 March to 17 April due to lead replacement works.

Red Lion Lane & Verney Street, Exeter Parking restrictions from 16 March until September 2027 for site safety measures by Classic Builders.

Duckworth Road, Exeter Closure from Barton Road junction to Old Vicarage Road junction from 18 March to 17 April for water quality improvements.

Clyst Road, Topsham Closed from 6 April to mid-May for gas mains works with diversions via local roads.
