In a series of public notices, Devon County Council has announced multiple temporary road closures across the county to facilitate essential infrastructure works. These closures, under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, are set to commence in April and May 2025, with varying durations and purposes.

Road from Bonchurch Cottage to Speedway Garage, Rewe

Starting from Tuesday May 13 2025, this road will be closed for drainage works. The closure is expected to last until Thursday May 22 2025. An alternative route will be signposted via Road Past Old Ruffwell Farm, Road From Forches House to Rewe Cross, Green Lane, and back to the original road. Pennsylvania Road, Exeter

From Wednesday April 23 2025, Pennsylvania Road will be closed to through traffic and parking outside numbers 166-200. This closure is necessary for trenching and cable overlay works by National Grid and is anticipated to conclude by Saturday May 31 2025. The alternative route will be via Pennsylvania Road, Union Road, Rosebarn Lane, and back. Queries can be directed to National Grid at 01271 347735.

Blackhorse Lane, Blackhorse

This road will be closed from Tuesday April 22 2025 for a new water connection installation. The work is expected to finish by Monday April 28 2025. There is no alternative route available for this closure. Kier on behalf of Southwest Water can provide additional information at 01726 224400.

Commercial Road & Quay Hill, Exeter

Scheduled from Monday May 19 2025, this closure will facilitate drainage works and is expected to last until Friday May 23 2025. A one-way suspension on Quay Hill will also be in effect. The alternative route includes Commercial Road, A377, A3015, Lower Coombe Street, Quay Hill, and back. Milestone Infrastructure can be contacted for more information at the same number as above.

Brenton Road, Clapham

Starting on Monday May 19 2025, Brenton Road will be closed for repairs of a collapsed wall or bank until Friday July 25 2025. The signed diversion route includes several local roads such as Road Past Higher Brenton Farm and St Georges Terrace. Safemark Traffic Management Ltd can provide further details at 01364 804002.
