In a recent announcement, Plymouth City Council has issued a temporary prohibition order affecting Claremont Street and Oxford Place. This order, made under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, will restrict driving, parking, waiting, loading, and unloading in these areas to facilitate essential gas mains works.
The affected sections include Claremont Street between Eton Lane and Oxford Place, and Oxford Place between Claremont Street and Western Approach. These restrictions will be enforced whenever the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
The order is set to commence on Monday August 4 2025 and will remain in effect for up to 18 months. However, the gas mains works are expected to be completed by Sunday August 31 2025, operating continuously throughout this period.
Residents and commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and seek alternative routes where possible. Those who have any concerns or believe they may be adversely impacted by these restrictions are encouraged to contact Wales & West Utilities at 0800 9122 999 for further information.
