Punch Taverns Limited has submitted an application to the Borough of Broxbourne Council to vary the premises licence for the Wheatsheaf located at 273 High Street, Waltham Cross, EN8 7BG. This application under the Licensing Act 2003 aims to permit several changes to the venue's layout and design.
The proposed modifications include a full refurbishment of the premises as per the submitted plan (drawing no 2631-501). Key changes involve extending the trade area by removing the existing kitchen, reconfiguring the bar, and adding new fixed seating and a games area.
Additionally, Punch Taverns seeks to remove the current condition limiting the number of patrons (excluding staff and attendants) to 100. Instead, they propose that the capacity be determined by a Fire Risk Assessment.
Importantly, the operating times, licensable activities, and other conditions authorised by the existing Premises Licence will remain unchanged.
Members of the public who wish to make representations regarding this application must submit their comments in writing by 7 July 2026. Representations should be sent to the Licensing Unit at Borough of Broxbourne Council, Bishops’ College, Churchgate, Cheshunt, Hertfordshire EN8 9XQ or via email to licensing@broxbourne.gov.uk or envhealth@broxbourne.gov.uk.
The public register where applications can be viewed is accessible at the Licensing Unit during normal office hours or online at www.broxbourne.gov.uk.
The Licensing Authority will consider all representations received by the deadline. It is important to note that making a false statement in connection with this application is an offence punishable by an unlimited fine upon summary conviction.
