Devon County Council has announced temporary road closures and parking restrictions in Topsham and Exeter to facilitate essential mains replacement works. These measures, under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, will affect High Street in Topsham and Preston Street in Exeter.

High Street, Topsham

From Thursday, January 2, 2025, until Friday, January 31, 2025, High Street in Topsham will be closed to through traffic and parking from the junction with Denver Road to the junction with Station Road. An alternative route for vehicles will be signposted via High Street, Exeter Road, Topsham Road, Bridge Road, Rydon Lane, Sandy Gate Roundabout, Sidmouth Road, Exmouth Road towards Clyst St Mary and Clyst St George, Dart Farm, Bridge Hill, Elm Grove Road, and Station Road.

Additionally, a separate order prohibits parking on High Street from the junction of Denver Road to the same junction. This restriction is also effective from January 2 to January 31, 2025.

Preston Street, Exeter

Preston Street in Exeter will experience a temporary prohibition of through traffic and parking from Monday, December 9, 2024, to Friday, February 7, 2025. Two diversion routes will be available:

• Diversion 1 (King Street to Market Street): Preston Street, Market Street, Fore Street, Mary Arches Street, Bartholomew Street East, North Street, South Street, Holloway Street, Magdalen Street, Western Way.
• Diversion 2 (Frog Street to King Street): Preston Street, King Street, Fore Street, Mary Arches Street.
