Devon County Council has announced several temporary road closures in Exeter scheduled for August 2026. These closures are necessary to facilitate essential infrastructure works across various locations.

Matford Lane, Topsham Road & Matford Avenue Closure

From 10 August 2026, a temporary prohibition of through traffic and parking will be enforced on Matford Lane, Topsham Road, and Matford Avenue. This closure is anticipated to last until 4 September 2026. The restriction is required to enable gas works by Wales & West Utilities. An alternative route will be signposted via Topsham Road, St Leonards Road, and Wonford Road.

Woodah Road Closure

Starting from 24 August 2026, Woodah Road will be closed to through traffic and parking until 30 September 2026. This closure is necessary for safety measures around scaffolding for property repairs. South Coast Traffic Management is overseeing the project.

School Road Closure and One-Way Suspension

School Road will experience a temporary closure from 24 August to 2 November 2026. Additionally, the one-way system on Cecil Road and Oxford Street will be suspended to facilitate gas mains replacement by Wales & West Utilities.

Moor Lane Night-time Closure

Moor Lane will be closed nightly from 21 August to 29 August 2026 between 7pm and 6am. This closure is part of a gas mains replacement project with diversions via Sidmouth Road Roundabout and other major routes.

Broadclyst Road Resurfacing

Broadclyst Road in Whimple will undergo resurfacing starting from 17 August 2026. Taylor Woodrow is managing the project with an anticipated completion date of 18 September 2026.
