The Council of the City of Plymouth has announced a series of proposed changes to Tavistock Road (A386) as part of an Order submitted under the Highways Act 1980. The Order, which has been sent to the Secretary of State for Transport for confirmation, includes plans to improve existing highways, stop up certain roads, construct new highways, and alter access to premises along the route.

The proposed improvements will affect the section of Tavistock Road from its junction with Morgan Road/Southway Drive to a point north of the Woolwell Roundabout. These changes are intended to enhance traffic flow and accessibility in the area.

Residents and interested parties can inspect copies of the Order and relevant plans at the George Junction Park and Ride terminal building on Tavistock Road, Plymouth PL6 7HB. The documents are available for viewing from 21 May 2026 during weekdays between 6:30am and 3pm, excluding Bank Holidays. Additionally, they can be accessed online via the Plymouth City Council's website.

Members of the public have until 14 July 2026 to submit objections to the Secretary of State for Transport. Objections should be sent either by post to the National Transport Casework Team in Newcastle upon Tyne or via email. It is important for objectors to note that their personal data may be shared with the Council unless they specify otherwise.

This initiative is part of a broader effort by Plymouth Council to improve infrastructure and traffic management within the city. Those who have any concerns or believe they may be adversely impacted are encouraged to review the plans and submit their feedback accordingly.
