Libraries Unlimited South West has submitted an application for a new premises licence at Exeter Central Library, located at Rougemont Place, Exeter EX4 3PQ. The application, under the Licensing Act 2003, seeks permission for various licensable activities including the sale of alcohol and the provision of live music, dance, plays, recorded music, and similar entertainment.

The proposed hours for the sale of alcohol are Monday to Sunday from 6pm to 11pm. Live music and dance performances are planned from Monday to Saturday between 9am and 11pm, and on Sundays from 10am to 11pm. Plays are scheduled to be held every day from 9am to 11pm. Recorded music will be played on Mondays from 8am to 11pm, Tuesday to Saturday from 9am to 11pm, and Sundays from 10am to 11pm. Similar entertainment is proposed for Monday to Saturday from 9am to 11pm and on Sundays from 10am to 11pm.

Alternatively, information can be accessed online through the 'Applications in progress' section on the Exeter City Council website.

Representations regarding this application must be submitted in writing to the Council by no later than Tuesday May 27 2026. It is important to note that making a false statement in connection with this application is an offence punishable by an unlimited fine upon summary conviction.

The application was accepted on April 29 2026 and is currently under consideration. Those who have any concerns or believe they may be adversely impacted by this application are encouraged to submit their representations before the deadline.
