Plymouth City Council has announced several temporary traffic restrictions across the city to facilitate essential infrastructure works. These measures are set to impact various roads and are necessary to ensure the safe and efficient completion of gas main and telecoms projects.
Kingston Drive Area Restrictions
Starting from 7 September 2026, a series of roads including Kingston Drive, Kingston Close, and Minerva Close will experience full closures or parking suspensions. These restrictions are part of phased gas main works expected to last until 26 February 2027. Residents and commuters should plan alternative routes during this period.
Whitleigh Green Traffic Changes
From 9 September 2026, Whitleigh Green will see southbound closures and a suspension of the one-way system to accommodate a traffic crossing scheme. The affected roads include Budshead Road and Whitleigh Way, with work anticipated to conclude by 23 October 2026.
Furzehill Road Area Works
Gas main works will also affect Furzehill Road, Marina Terrace, and surrounding areas starting on 24 August 2026. These roads will be closed or have restricted access until 23 November 2026.
Leigham Street Parking Restrictions
Leigham Street will face parking and loading restrictions from 17 August 2026 due to building cladding works. These measures will remain in place until 31 March 2027.
Prospect Place Telecoms Work
Telecoms work on Prospect Place is scheduled from 7 September to 25 September 2026. During this time, parking and loading will be restricted between Chichester House carpark and Plymouth Marine Laboratory.
For further details on these restrictions or to raise concerns, residents can contact the relevant utility companies or Plymouth City Council directly. Those affected are encouraged to stay informed about specific timings and plan their journeys accordingly.
