Plymouth City Council has announced a temporary restriction on through traffic, parking, waiting, loading, and unloading on several roads in Plymouth. This measure is being implemented to facilitate phased gas main works. The affected roads include North Road East (westbound between Evelyn Place and Plymouth Train Station entrance), Winston Avenue, James Street (from North Road East to the rear of number 81), Welbeck Avenue, Derry Avenue, Glen Park Avenue (from number 28 to Restormel Road), Sutherland Place (from Sutherland Road Lane West to Sutherland Road), Sutherland Road (from Sutherland Place to North Road East), Houndiscombe Road (from St Lawrence Road to North Road East), Elizabeth Place (from Endsleigh Place to number 1), and Endsleigh Place.
The restrictions will be in place from Monday June 15 2026 and are expected to last until Friday August 28 2026. These measures will be enforced around the clock throughout this period. The temporary order is deemed necessary to ensure the safe and efficient completion of the gas main works.
Residents and commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and consider alternative routes where possible.
