A pedestrian was taken to hospital after a crash involving a taxi in Reading town centre.

A South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) crew and Thames Valley Police were called to Friar Street in Reading, Berkshire on Wednesday, January 24.

A SCAS spokesman said: "We were called at 3.09pm with the caller reporting a collision between a male pedestrian and a taxi on Friar Street.

"We sent an ambulance to the scene and the patient was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

"The patient’s injuries were not life-threatening or thought to be too serious."

Police have confirmed the road was not closed off at the time of the incident, however Reading Buses tweeted a road closure linked to the collision had caused delays across its services.
