The Department for Transport has announced a proposal to make an Order under section 247 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990. This Order would authorise the stopping up and diversion of a section of footpath connecting Culver Way to Orchard Avenue in Plymouth. The proposed changes are intended to facilitate development permitted by Plymouth City Council under reference 25/01103/FUL.

The draft Order and relevant plans will be available for public inspection at Plymouth Central Library, located at Taylor Maxwell House, 167-171 Armada Way, Plymouth, PL1 1HZ. These documents can be viewed during normal opening hours over a 28-day period starting from 13 July 2026. Copies can also be obtained free of charge by contacting the address provided in the notice.

Members of the public who wish to object to the proposed Order must submit their objections in writing to the Secretary of State. Correspondence should be sent to the National Transport Casework Team at PO Box 1393, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE99 5FQ or via email at nationalcasework@dft.gov.uk. All objections must include reasons for the objection and be received by midnight on 10 August 2026.

It is important for those submitting correspondence to note that their personal data and correspondence will be shared with the applicant or agent for consideration. If individuals do not wish their personal data to be forwarded, they should clearly state their reasons when submitting their correspondence.

This notice was published in The Herald and provides an opportunity for local residents and interested parties to express their views on the proposed changes.
