Devon County Council has announced a temporary prohibition of through traffic and parking on Matford Lane, Topsham Road, and Matford Avenue in Exeter. This restriction is set to commence on August 10 2026, lasting until September 4 2026, with a maximum duration of 18 months as per the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The closure is necessary to facilitate essential gas works being carried out by Wales & West Utilities. During this period, no vehicles will be allowed to proceed or wait on the affected sections of these roads.

An alternative route for vehicles will be clearly signed, directing traffic via Topsham Road, St Leonards Road, and Wonford Road, with provisions for travel in both directions.

Residents and commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid inconvenience. For further details or inquiries about the roadworks, individuals can contact Wales & West Utilities at 0800 9122999.
