A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash in Reading.

The man, believed to be in his mid-twenties, is thought to have been involved in a collision with a car near Reading College in Kings Road, Reading, at around 5pm on Thursday, May 17.

He was treated at the scene, but has now been taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, Berkshire.

Police shut the bus lane and traffic lanes in the road to allow the man to have treatment.

An air ambulance was also called but the man was taken away in a land ambulance.

It was not known at 6.05pm on May 17 whether the road had reopened, but Reading Buses was still reporting delays around the area.

• Police announced on Friday, May 18 that the motorcyclist later died in hospital.
