A homeless man who was found dead in a doorway in Reading town centre has been named.

Marek Drywa, of no fixed address, was found in Friar Street at 7.38am on Wednesday, March 14, after concerns were raised over a man's welfare.

Emergency services attended but South Central Ambulance Service confirmed the 59-year-old was dead at the scene in Reading, Berkshire.

An eyewitness at the time of the incident said Mr Drywa had been sleeping in the doorway of the empty shop unit opposite Greyfriars Church.

At the time, police said the death was unexplained but was not suspicious.

Berkshire Coroner's Office has opened an inquest into the death, which is likely to be held later this year.
