Hertfordshire County Council has issued a series of temporary traffic orders affecting various roads across the county. These orders are set to commence from November 2026 and will be valid for up to 18 months. The works are necessary for maintenance and utility service improvements.

In Hoddesdon, Wormley, Cheshunt, and Hertford, several roads will be closed to vehicular traffic. Whitehands Close in Hoddesdon will be closed from its junction with Langton Road for its entire length. Cozens Lane West in Wormley will also see closures from A1170 High Road to Hoddesdon Restricted Byway No.040. Bury Green Road in Cheshunt and Dimsdale Street in Hertford are similarly affected.

For Town Lane in Benington, a closure is planned from Three Stiles to Church Green with an alternative route via Whempstead Road and other local roads. Brickendon Road in Brickendon/Hertford will also face closures with a detour via Pembridge Lane and Horns Mill Road.

St Mary’s Lane in Hertingfordbury will be closed for utility works with an alternative route provided via Hertingfordbury Road and Cole Green. Church Lane in Hunsdon will undergo development works requiring a six-month closure.

Additional closures include C32 in Braughing for utility service works, Market Street/Railway Street in Hertford for maintenance works, and Lammas Road in Watton at Stone along with Tanfield Close in Cheshunt.

Lord Street and Lampits in Hoddesdon will also experience temporary closures due to scheduled works. Hertingfordbury Road in Hertford is set for a one-day closure for utility services.

The council has also proposed new speed limits in Buntingford to enhance road safety. These include 20 mph limits on various roads, a 30 mph limit on Baldock Road, and a 40 mph limit on parts of Ermine Street.

Residents with concerns or queries about these orders are encouraged to contact the relevant authorities as listed in the notices.
