Hertfordshire County Council has announced several temporary road closures and traffic management measures across the county starting from mid-July 2026. These measures are necessary to facilitate various utility works and repairs.

Key Road Closures and Diversions

• Footpath Hertford 062: Closed from 17 July 2026 for up to 12 days for utility works. Alternative routes will be provided.
• Church Lane, Watton at Stone: Closed from 1 August 2026 for brickwork repairs. The closure will last for seven days with a diversion via Church Lane, Station Road, High Street, Perrywood Lane, and Church Lane.
• Various Roads in Ware and Wormley: Starting 3 August 2026, roads including A119 Hertford Road and Myddleton Road will be closed for seven days. Diversions are in place.
• Aston Lane, Aston: Closed from 3 August 2026 for nine days due to utility service works. Diversion via Stringers Lane, Benington Road, Broadwater Lane, and Aston Lane.
• St Andrews Street into Brewhouse Lane, Hertford: Left turn prohibited from 3 August 2026 for six months due to wall repair works. Alternative routes are available.
• Bucks Alley, Essendon: Closed from 3 August 2026 for nine days for utility service works. Diversion via Robins Nest Hill, Church Road, White Stubbs Lane, Ashendene Road, and Bucks Alley.
• Watton Road/C29 (Unnamed Road), Stevenage: Closed on 4 August 2026 for one day due to vegetation removal works. Diversion via Watton Road, Hertford Road, A602 Broadhall Way.
• West End Road, Wormley: Closed from 3 August 2026 for three days for water connection works. Diversion via West End Road, Church Lane, White Stubbs Lane.
• B180 Hunsdon Road, Stanstead Abbotts: Closed on 3 August 2026 for one day due to utility service works. Diversion via B181 Roydon Road and other local roads.
• Footpath between No.161 and No.177 Wheatcroft, Cheshunt: Closed from 22 July 2026 for nine days for gas repair works. Alternative footpaths are available.

Additional Traffic Management Measures

• Various Roads in Hoddesdon: From 20 July 2026 for eight weeks due to gas main works. Includes prohibitions on right turns at several junctions with diversions in place.
• Cherry Green Lane, Westmill: Closed from 21 July 2026 for two days to replace a telegraph pole. Diversion via local roads.
• The Street, Aspenden: Closed from 21 July 2026 for two days to replace a telegraph pole with no alternative route but access maintained where possible.
• Pearson Avenue, Hertford: Closed on 20 July 2026 for one day due to utility service works with a diversion via B158 Bullocks Lane.
