Hertfordshire County Council has announced several temporary road traffic orders affecting various roads across the county, set to commence from mid-June 2026. These orders are necessary to facilitate essential works and ensure public safety.

Key Road Closures and Restrictions

• A1170 Ware Road, Hoddesdon: This section will be closed from its junction with Briscoe Road to the B1197 Hertford Road/A1170 Amwell Street roundabout. The closure is scheduled for five days starting 15 June 2026, with an alternative route via A10 and A1170 Amwell Street.
• Hebing End, Benington: Closed from its junction with Whempstead Road for utility service works. The closure will last one day from 15 June 2026.
• Parnel Road, Ware and Prospect Road, Cheshunt: Both roads will have waiting restrictions while works are in progress. Parnel Road will have an alternative route via Tower Road.
• A10 Great Cambridge Road, Cheshunt: Temporary speed limit of 30mph and restricted left turns from College Road during water connection works scheduled for four days starting 15 June 2026.
• Whempstead Road, Benington: Closed for three days from 16 June 2026 for utility service works with an alternative route provided.
• B176 Turners Hill, Cheshunt: Temporary suspension of the bus/cycle lane to allow all vehicles access during utility works.
• Service Road fronting Nos.90A-98 Cuffley Hill, Goffs Oak: Closed for water service works from 1 June 2026 for fourteen days.
• Bowling Road, Ware: Closed for gas main works with an alternative route via Vicarage Road and Garland Road.
• Aspenden Road, Buntingford and The Street, Aspenden: Closed for one day on 1 June 2026 for utility repairs.
• Kitten Lane, Stanstead Abbotts: Closed for three days starting 1 June 2026 with an alternative route via B181 Roydon Road.
• C15 (Unnamed Road), Little Hadham: Closed for ten days from 1 June 2026 with a detailed diversion route provided.

Additional Traffic Orders

The council has also introduced new waiting restrictions in Standon and a pedestrian and cycle zone in West Street and Tudor Square, Ware. These changes aim to improve traffic flow and safety in these areas.
