Hertfordshire County Council has announced a series of temporary road closures across various locations in the county, set to commence from July 2026. These closures are part of planned works under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and will affect several roads in Waltham Cross, Cheshunt, Hoddesdon, Walkern, and other areas.

The closures are necessary to facilitate essential works on or near the roads. For instance, Bisley Close in Waltham Cross will be closed from its junction with Park Lane for its entire length. Similarly, Leyland Close in Cheshunt will be closed from its junction with A10 Great Cambridge Road. Access will be maintained wherever possible during these works.

In Hoddesdon, River Avenue will be closed from its junction with Rye Road to Stortford Road. An alternative route via Rye Road, Gladstone Road, and Stortford Road will be available. In Walkern, Totts Lane will have an alternative route via B1037 High Street and Winters Lane.

The order for these closures will take effect from 24 July 2026 and is valid for up to 18 months. However, the actual works are scheduled to last seven days and will only occur on specified days as indicated by signage near the roads.

Additional closures include Worsted Lane in Little Hormead for telegraph pole replacement and Davies Street in Hertford for utility service works. Each closure has specific alternative routes where applicable.
