Hertfordshire County Council has issued several temporary road closure orders under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. These closures are necessary to facilitate essential maintenance work across various locations in Hertfordshire.
The first order concerns the temporary closure of Worsted Lane in Little Hormead. This closure is required for the replacement of an existing telegraph pole. The affected section extends from a point 480 metres southwest of its junction with The Street, northeastwards for approximately 100 metres. An alternative route will be available via B1368, B1038, C15, Ginns Road, The Wash, and The Street. This order will be effective from 25 July 2026 and is valid for up to 18 months, although the works are scheduled to take just one day.
In addition, several roads in Waltham Cross, Cheshunt, Hoddesdon, and Walkern will also be closed temporarily. These include Bisley Close in Waltham Cross, Leyland Close and Maybury Avenue in Cheshunt, Pine Close in Cheshunt, River Avenue in Hoddesdon, Swanfield Road in Waltham Cross, and Totts Lane in Walkern. While some roads have no alternative routes available, access will be maintained wherever possible during the works. The order for these roads will come into effect on 24 July 2026 and is valid for up to 18 months. The works are expected to last seven days.
Furthermore, new traffic regulation orders have been made for Port Vale and Russell Street in Hertford. These include 'at any time' waiting restrictions and a prohibition of stopping on school entrance markings. These orders will take effect on Wednesday 5 August 2026.
For more detailed information or queries regarding these orders, residents can contact Edward Seaward at Road Traffic Management Ltd or Carl Leggett at Ringway. Copies of the orders can be inspected at Farnham House in Stevenage or online at the Hertfordshire County Council website.
