Hertfordshire County Council has announced a series of temporary road closures and traffic management measures across Hertford and surrounding areas, set to commence in July 2026. These measures are necessary to facilitate essential utility service works.
Port Vale, Hertford The closure of Port Vale from its junction with Russell Street southeastwards for approximately 39 metres will begin on 5 July 2026. The closure is expected to last one day, with no alternative route available. Access will be maintained where possible.
Bucks Alley, Essendon/Bayford From 6 July 2026, Bucks Alley will be closed from its junction with Robins Nest Hill to Ashendene Road for approximately 1293 metres. An alternative route is provided via Robins Nest Hill, Church Road, C54 (unnamed road), White Stubbs Lane, and Ashendene Road. The works are scheduled to take 21 days.
B1037 (Unnamed Road), Cottered Scheduled to start on 6 July 2026, this closure will affect the B1037 from its junction with Church Lane southwestwards for about 45 metres. An alternative route includes B1037, A507, B656 Whitehorse Street, B197, A602, A1072 Martins Way, A1155 Verity Way, and B1037. The works are expected to last five days.
Park Lane Paradise, Cheshunt This section will be closed from 9 July 2026 for five days. The closure affects Park Lane Paradise from a point 75 metres northeast of Cromwell Wood Close southwestwards for about 220 metres. An alternative route is via Park Lane Paradise, Beaumont Road, Bread and Cheese Lane, Appleby Street.
Allard Close, Cheshunt Also starting on 9 July 2026, Allard Close will be closed from its junction with Peakes Way northwestwards for approximately 100 metres. There is no alternative route available; however, access will be maintained where possible. The works are scheduled to last five days.
Old Nazeing Road, Broxbourne This closure will occur on 9 July 2026 for one day. It affects Old Nazeing Road from its junction with B194 New Nazeing Road southwestwards and southeastwards for about 267 metres. An alternative route is via B194 New Nazeing Road and Old Nazeing Road.
