Temporary road closures in Exeter

Devon County Council has announced several temporary road closures in Exeter starting from late July 2026. These restrictions are necessary to facilitate essential infrastructure works.

• Victoria Park Road: A temporary prohibition of parking is in effect from 27 July to 21 August 2026 to enable a lead replacement scheme by South West Water. For more details, contact South West Water at 0344 346 2020.
• A396 Stoke Road: From 17 August to 28 August 2026, there will be a prohibition of through traffic and parking to allow retaining wall works. Contact EDG - Engineering Design Group at 01392 38300 for further information.
• Cowick Lane & Balls Farm Road: These roads will be closed from 27 July to 1 September 2026 for gas mains replacement by Wales & West Utilities. Queries can be directed to Wales & West Utilities at 0800 9122999.
• Alphinbrook Road, Marsh Barton Trading Estate: Closure from 10 August to 21 September 2026 for gas mains replacement. Contact Wales & West Utilities at the same number as above.

Planning applications affecting listed buildings and conservation areas

Exeter City Council has received multiple planning applications that may impact listed buildings and conservation areas. Public comments are invited within 24 days of the notice date.

• Alice Vieland Clinic, Bull Meadow Road: Proposals include internal and external alterations. Application reference: 26/1021/FUL.
• Honeylands Hospital For Children, Pinhoe Road: Change of use from C2 to C3 residential with associated works. Application reference: 26/1049/FUL.
• Queens House, Little Queen Street: Conversion of vacant offices into student accommodation. Application reference: 26/0606/LBC.

Dartmoor firing schedule

The Dartmoor Training Area has released its firing schedule for late July to early August 2026:

• Willsworthy Range: Firing will occur during the day and night on selected dates between 27 July and 30 July.
• Merrivale Range: Similar firing activities are scheduled alongside Willsworthy.
