Devon County Council has announced a series of temporary traffic and parking restrictions across various roads in Exeter, effective from late July 2026. These measures are being implemented under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to facilitate essential infrastructure works.

Victoria Park Road From 27 July 2026, Victoria Park Road will experience a prohibition of parking to enable a lead replacement scheme aimed at resolving water quality issues. Cycle Track from Hen Nock Road Central to Grace Road South Pedestrian access will be restricted on this cycle track starting 27 July 2026, with an anticipated completion date of 21 September 2026. This is part of the lead replacement efforts.

A396 - Stoke Road A temporary prohibition of through traffic and parking will be enforced on Stoke Road from 17 August to 28 August 2026 for retaining wall works. The alternative route will be via Stoke Road and the road past Laburnum Cottages. For more information, contact the Engineering Design Group at 01392 38300.

Cowick Lane & Balls Farm Road From 27 July to 1 September 2026, Cowick Lane and Balls Farm Road will be closed to through traffic and parking to replace old metallic gas mains with new plastic ones. Alternative routes include Cowick Lane, Alphington Road, Alphington Street, Cowick Street, Crabb Lane, and Ide Village Road. Alphinbrook Road, Marsh Barton Trading Estate Starting on 10 August until 21 September 2026, Alphinbrook Road will see similar restrictions for gas mains replacement. The signed alternative route includes Hennock Road North and Grace Road Central.
