Exeter City Council has announced a series of planning applications that could impact the setting of listed buildings and the character or appearance of conservation areas in Exeter. These applications are available for public viewing on the council's website, where representations of objection, comment, or support can be submitted within 24 days of this notice.
Among the notable applications is the proposal for Chapel Platt Surgery at 19 Fore Street, Topsham. The application seeks to remove Condition 3 from Planning Reference 26/0207/FUL, which was granted on 1 June 2026. This condition currently restricts the approved use to an operational period of one year.
Another significant application involves a rear two-storey stepped extension and single-storey side extension at 6A Thornton Hill, Duryard & St James's. This proposal also includes various alterations under Planning Reference 26/0804/FUL.
Structural repairs and reconstruction work have commenced at 115 - 116 Fore Street, St David's. This project aims to stabilise and reconstruct the external envelope of the building under Planning Reference 26/0817/FUL.
Several listed building applications are also under consideration. At Riversmeet House on Bowling Green Road, Topsham, internal alterations to the basement are proposed. These include partial removal of an internal partition wall and alterations to the existing staircase (Planning Reference 26/0739/LBC).
In St David's, a refurbishment project at 8 Southernhay West proposes changes to the internal layout, including a new staircase and plant room (Planning Reference 26/0756/LBC).
At 27 The Strand in Topsham, internal reconfigurations across three floors are planned, alongside a side infill extension and removal of external steps (Planning Reference 26/0823/LBC).
Works at 28 New North Road in Duryard & St James's involve modifications to the ground floor entrance conservatory. This includes replacing an internal timber beam and a timber-framed glazed pitched roof with matching materials (Planning Reference 26/0819/LBC).
Lastly, The Flat at 58 Fore Street in Topsham is set for renovation. This includes repairing and single glazing an historic window opening on the north elevation at the second level (Planning Reference 26/0520/LBC).
